Break the Cycle at Its Root

Family Constellations for PMDD: Release What Was Never Yours to Carry

book your pmdd strategy session now!

If your emotions spiral every month and no one seems to understand just how intense it feels — you’re not alone.

PMDD isn’t just about hormones.
It’s also about the nervous system, stress patterns, and sometimes… emotional weight that doesn’t even start with you.

Many women with PMDD find themselves repeating the same emotional patterns month after month — despite eating well, taking supplements, or going to therapy.
You might feel like you’re doing everything right, and yet something still feels stuck.

That’s often a sign the root isn’t just physical — it might be ancestral.

“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate”

What Are Family Constellations?

Family Constellations is a therapeutic process that gently explores inherited emotional patterns — the kinds that show up as anxiety, rage, low self-worth, or emotional reactivity with no clear cause.

It’s not about blaming parents or dredging up family stories. It’s about seeing what your system is still carrying, even if it didn’t start with you.

Through this work, we can begin to release generational trauma, unspoken grief, and unconscious emotional entanglements — so you stop living them out, especially during the most vulnerable part of your cycle.

Why Family Constellations Are So Powerful for PMDD

Many women with PMDD are deeply sensitive — not just hormonally, but emotionally and energetically.
And that sensitivity often points to an overwhelmed system that’s holding too much.

In clinical practice, I’ve seen women’s PMDD symptoms dramatically shift after releasing inherited emotional burdens they didn’t even realise they were carrying.

Constellations can help you:

  • Break cycles of shame, self-blame, and emotional overload

  • Understand why the same patterns show up in relationships or your inner world

  • Create emotional spaciousness where there’s been chaos

  • Feel more yourself, all month long

What Happens in a 1:1 Constellation Session?

Sessions are held online or in-person in Ubud, Bali, during upcoming retreats.

They’re one-on-one, gentle, and completely guided by your pace. You don’t need your family involved, and you don’t need to know exactly what’s wrong — just the desire to explore.

We'll work with a current issue — emotional, physical, relational, or ancestral — and begin to uncover the deeper threads underneath it.

All you need is:

  • Yourself

  • A blank piece of paper

  • A pair of scissors

  • A pen

Sessions last 60–90 minutes. Nothing is rushed. Healing unfolds in its own time.

Note: It’s best not to talk about or journal on the session for at least three days after. Let the shifts settle.

What Can Family Constellations Support?

Emotional symptoms linked to PMDD:

  • Sudden rage, anxiety, or sadness that feels “too much”

  • Feeling stuck in shame, guilt, or patterns of self-sabotage

  • Disconnection from your body, intuition, or cycle

Relational struggles:

  • Repeating toxic dynamics or communication breakdowns

  • Feeling emotionally “triggered” by your partner or family

  • A sense of responsibility or loyalty that doesn’t feel like your own

Deep inner healing:

  • Unresolved grief, trauma, or estrangement in the family line

  • Emotional blocks that haven’t shifted through talk therapy

  • A quiet knowing that you’re holding something that isn’t fully yours

But Is There Science Behind It?

Yes — emerging science supports what this work shows us intuitively.

  • Epigenetics reveals that trauma can be biologically inherited across generations

  • Morphic resonance (as explored by Rupert Sheldrake) shows we’re connected to family energy fields that hold memory and emotion

  • Neuroplasticity reminds us that emotional pathways can be rewired — healing is possible, even if it hasn’t been your experience yet

How This Helped Me

I stumbled into my first Family Constellation session 15 years ago. I didn’t know what it was, but something big in me shifted.

When I later began facing my own PMDD, panic attacks, and emotional burnout, I came back to this work — and it helped me release things that years of talk therapy never touched.

It’s now one of the most powerful tools I use to help women who feel like their monthly cycle brings up emotions they can’t explain or control.

You don’t have to keep carrying what’s not yours. Let’s start letting it go — gently, together.

“Beyond the devastation, our natural world also offers a wealth of healing resources.  One can read the life history of a tree for example, according to the pattern of its rings, or find a map in the shell of an oyster, which tells the story of its life and relationship to the sea.  I have come to believe that we are all rather like tree rings and shell patterns in that what has happened to us leaves a permanent record.

The goal of trauma work, therefore as I see it, is not to erase or cure but rather to expand and include and grow larger than whatever has happened to us.  If one thinks in terms of integration and resolving rather than eliminating trauma, then there is a possibility of guiding a multidimensional human organism toward an experience of relative balance and resiliency.” (St. Just 2006, 168)

In case you were wondering..

  • Family Constellations gently uncovers unresolved emotional patterns passed down through your family system. For many women with PMDD, intense emotions aren’t just hormonal—they’re inherited. By bringing awareness and healing to these subconscious patterns, you may notice reduced emotional reactivity and greater stability across your cycle.

  • Yes. Family Constellations is a completely natural, non-invasive approach to healing emotional root causes of PMDD. It works by exploring the emotional and ancestral dynamics behind recurring symptoms—without medication, and often without needing to relive past trauma.

  • No. Sessions are one-on-one and fully focused on your healing. You don’t need any other family members present or even have full knowledge of your family history. The process works with what’s showing up in your life right now and the energetic patterns behind it.

  • Yes. Science is now catching up to what many healing traditions have long known. Studies in epigenetics show that trauma can be passed down biologically—and emotionally. If your PMDD feels bigger than just hormones, ancestral trauma might be part of the picture.

  • Most PMDD therapies focus on physical or hormonal symptoms. Family Constellations goes deeper—addressing emotional patterns, inherited grief, and unconscious loyalties that can amplify your symptoms. It’s especially powerful when PMDD is linked with unresolved family trauma, relationship stress, or feelings of being “too much.”

  • I’m a naturopath and trauma-informed facilitator who supports women with PMDD using natural medicine, nervous-system regulation, Rapid Core Healing, Family Constellations, Kundalini Meditation, Kundalini Yoga, and Yoga Nidra. I stay firmly within my scope and I’m clear about where my work begins and ends.

    What I do

    • Education and support: I teach practical tools that calm the body, steady mood, and support sleep, energy, and focus.

    • Natural therapies: I use nutrition, herbs, and supplements (when indicated), plus gentle mind–body methods that help the nervous system feel safe.

    • Trauma-informed facilitation: I guide structured sessions (RCH, Constellations, Yoga Nidra) designed to reduce charge without re-traumatising.

    • Collaboration: With your consent, I’m happy to coordinate with your GP, psychologist, or psychiatrist so care is joined-up.

    What I don’t do

    • No diagnosis of mental-health conditions.

    • No medication management, changes, or advice to stop prescribed treatment.

    • No crisis care. If you’re in acute distress (e.g., suicidal thoughts, recent self-harm, psychosis, unmanaged bipolar disorder), I’ll help you access urgent medical or psychological support and pause our work until you’re safe.

    Boundaries and safety

    • Screening before we start to make sure this is appropriate for you.

    • Informed consent in clear language—what we’re doing, why, and possible reactions.

    • Pacing that matches your nervous system; we go only as far as you can stay present.

    • Red-flag referrals when specialist mental-health care is needed.

    • Confidentiality and respectful record-keeping.
